- Expression of Interest are invited for Sustainable Aviation Fuels - Green Market for Oil Palm. The World Bank / BioCarbon Fund Initiative for Sustainable Forest Landscapes Program (ISFL) is supporting low-emissions land use and sustainable agricultural development in the Orinoquía Region of Colombia. Within this framework, the World Bank is supporting analytical work that aims to support the generation, validation, and sharing of knowledge about effective approaches for promoting the emergence of climate-smart agricultural supply chains, with a particular focus on four value chains: cattle, oil palm, cocoa and non-timber forest products. The World Bank is seeking a firm or consortium to assess opportunities and challenges associated with promoting sustainable aviation fuels (SAF) produced from palm oil and oil palm crop residues as a green market opportunity for oil palm producers in the Orinoquía region. This consultancy will also focus on review experiences worldwide with promoting SAF; describe the challenges and opportunities that palm oil could face as an input into SAF production in Colombia; define potential blending scenarios between SAF and conventional jet fuel (demand); analyze whether there is currently and future installed production capacity of both oil palm and palm oil in the Orinoquía region and at national level to supply the expected market (supply); and describe a pathway and specific actions to promote large-scale SAF production from oil palm crop and its residues in the Orinoquía region and Colombia.
